The Board of Directors and staff of Hearts & Hands are proud of the accomplishments achieved over the twelve (12) years of operations. Eighteen (18) houses in the Westside of Indianapolis were rehabilitated and sold to low and moderate income families. Hearts & Hands provided a quality, safe and affordable home to each of these families. All but one family were first time home buyers.
Hearts & Hands of Indiana uplifted the neighborhood and the City of Indianapolis for years to come. On behalf of the Hearts & Hands Family, I thank and wish well all the individuals, organizations and businesses that were so generous with their time, talent and treasure. Together we made a difference in the community.
Sincerely,
Thomas A. Egold, President

Rebuilding Near West Indianapolis one family at a time.
Like many urban areas across America, the once-thriving historic Near West Indianapolis neighborhood has suffered a steady decline in nearby manufacturing jobs and has been further decimated by the effects of the recent economic downturn. The result is a challenge shared by many communities: How do we bring stabilization back to the neighborhood?
|
Our ImpactBy helping families achieve long-term homeownership, we also help them attain increased civic engagement, educational achievement, and improved property value. These enhancements to the families' lives enable them to contribute to the overall stability and improvement of the neighborhood. We focus not only on transforming vacant and abandoned houses in the Near West into safe, welcoming homes that families can be proud to own, but also on preparing these families through education and strategic mentoring.
