Jennifer is helping Hearts & Hands breathe new life into these vacant homes by incorporating 21st Century designs into their layout. She takes the existing skeleton of each house, and transforms it into a dynamic, functional living space. Jennifer has spent many hours of planning, designing, and reviewing the construction of the homes.
Jennifer works as an architect at Browning Day Mullins Dierdorf here in Indianapolis, a company that has had such a large impact on Indianapolis! Specifically, Jennifer has used her talents to design updates to the Indiana Repertory Theatre and the master plan for Crown Hill Cemetery.
Jennifer first reached out to Hearts & Hands of Indiana through her search for a way to give back to her community. She wanted to be involved in an exciting development effort and found the near-west neighborhood to be the perfect fit. Through her search, she was connected with our team at Hearts & Hands and the rest is history. Jennifer has been very involved with Hearts & Hands since attending our Belleview Open House this past spring. She also helped beautify our city during the Saints in the Streets day and showed her support at our Art Walk this October.
We are exponentially grateful for Jennifer’s experience and knowledge on the architecture plans for 729 Belleview Place and 702 Tremont. The updates completed on 729 Belleview helped turn this house into a quality home that the new owner can be proud to call her own. We can’t wait to get started on the rehabilitation of these 702 Tremont! So, join me in a round of applause for Jennifer's exemplary work.
We hosted volunteers from the Notre Dame Alumni Association Friday, September 12 for the Shamrock Series. Volunteers helped us paint the interior of 914 Holmes and beautify the exterior with new trees, plants, and soil. Endless thanks to all those involved!
Friday, August 22 was Meyer Najem's 2014 Swing Into Giving golf outing. The event netted $20,000 for us and $20,000 for another charity, Westminster Ministries. We enjoyed being part of a day of philanthropy and fun!
Come join us on May 4th to view our current progress on 914 Holmes followed by a community cookout. All are welcome!

Hearts & Hands has received a grant from The Buckingham Foundation for $10,000 to continue our work on the Near Westside!
Hearts & Hands of Indiana has received a grant of $75,000 from the Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana to fully complete the rehabilitation of 914 Holmes by mid-2014!
This grant is a vote of confidence in Hearts & Hands ability as a small organization to do big work, and we are so grateful to the FHCCI for the opportunity.
We would also like to say congratulations to the other recipients! There are so many great organizations doing important work, but this is definitely a list that we are proud to be on.
You don't have to be a world leader or a millionaire to give back. #GivingTuesday is about ordinary people coming together doing extraordinary things. We're reminded of this everyday at Hearts & Hands as we watch many hands from the community work as one to build homes for our families!
