Our Current HOUSE Rehabs
Since 2009, we've rehabbed 13 homes in our neighborhood and provided many families or individuals with affordable homes of their own. The momentum continues to grow as Hearts & Hands works to restore many more properties in our near-west community. Click on each house picture below to see the progress month by month!

COMMUNITY IMPACT
Hearts & Hands of Indiana helps families and individuals attain affordable, long-term homeownership in the near-west side of Indianapolis by providing education, mentoring, and quality rehabilitated homes through our Affordable Homeownership Program. We focus both on transforming vacant and abandoned houses in the near-west community into safe, welcoming homes that low-income families can be proud to own and helping these families prepare for homeownership through education and strategic mentoring. By focusing on the Haughville and Hawthorne neighborhoods, we feel we can create a center of positive change that will then expand to the rest of the community.
Our partners have been instrumental in our success. Our four key partners include: the City of Indianapolis, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Indianapolis, Indiana Landmarks, and the Westside Community Development Corporation (WCDC). In October 2017, we were awarded a significant CDBG grant from the City. We have been fortunate enough to receive such funding in previous years, allowing us to collaborate with Habitat and Indiana Landmarks to rehabilitate four houses in a very concentrated area of the River West Great Place. In 2016, a partnership with WCDC helped us sell a reconstructed home through the HOME grant. We anticipate these partnerships will continue to be instrumental to our work, and that we can work together to improve the vitality of our community – turning once-vacant houses into vibrant, affordable homes for Indianapolis families.
